Gambling can be addictive like alcohol and can ruin individuals. While individual players can win in the short term, the odds are usually stacked against them and most gamblers will lose over time.

Like alcohol retailers, gambling operators can be listed in Directory, thus indirectly becoming part of the ecosystem. Introducing gambling directly as a branch could harm Monero if absolute beginners come to the website out of curiosity and want to get oriented. That's the whole point of the website.
